Located on the Cape Ann Peninsula, Rockport is a charming coastal village, east of Gloucester.  When Gloucester was settled, Rockport remained uninhabited. It’s pine trees were used as material for ship building. After settling, it was primarily used for summer homes and large estates with a booming granite industry.  Once the granite quarries decreased in popularity. The village began to flourish as an artist community.  Rockport is also unique as it remained a dry community until 2005. Liquor can be served in restaurants, but liquor stores are still illegal. Today Rockport remains a residential and tourist town.
