Gloucester is one of America’s earliest settlements, having pre-dated Salem and Boston.  But due to its harsh weather, it was abandoned and the settlers moved to Salem, where they found farming to be much easier.  It eventually became settled in later years and the fishing industry on Cape Ann boomed.

Now Gloucester is known for its beautiful beaches that overlook the great Atlantic. With such attractions as Stage Fort Park and Hammond Castle, it’s no wonder that the community attracts summer tourists and artists alike.
