Belchertown was first settled in 1731 and originally named Cold Spring. At 55 square miles Belchertown lies along the Quabbin Reservoir. The Belchertown State School for mentally disabled was located in the town for 70 years, it was closed due to poor conditions. Belchertown has many beautiful buildings and parks for the community to utilize, including The Stone House Museum, Mini Fenway Park, Belchertown Skate Park, and The Belchertown Fair.
