Located in Norfolk County, Sharon is about 17 miles southwest of Boston. During the American Revolution the townspeople of Sharon made cannonballs and cannons for the continental Army. Sharon was also home to Deborah Sampson, a heroine who disguised herself as a man so she could fight the war. Sharon boasts a large number of scenic trails and a large percentage of conservation land including Borderland State Park and Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. The town is also noted for its outstanding school system. Sharon High School was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Schools award by the US Department of Education in 2011. Making it a very sought after suburb for families.
